Some friends and co-workers and I have been wondering what’s been going on with Saddam Hussein lately. After a lot of whooping and cheering after we got him, everything went silent. Looks like there’s finally an update of sorts. It doesn’t say a whole lot, but I guess it’s something.
A comment by Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage stood out for me, though: “[Saddam] sure thinks he’s smarter than everyone else, that’s for sure.”
Well let’s see… First he managed to take full control over an entire country. Then he managed to swindle arms and military support out of the United States. Then he managed to evade death and capture in Operation Desert Storm and stay in power for ten more years.
Yeah, he’s a real fuckin’ idiot alright.
