That’s the title I just slapped on a short story and fired off to Borderlands for volume 6 in their anthology series. Wish me luck.
It’s been an eventful night. I found out the sump shorted and I had a few inches of water in the center of the basement. Moreso than usual, but still not enough to do any real damage. Thank you, Illinois flood plains. Argh. While the concrete floor is very uneven down there, at least the builder - back around 1920 - had enough sense to make sure the center of the floor was the lowest point for the sump. It took a while, but I was able to trip the sump and then flip the circuit breaker over and over and over and over while it did its job.
Then I surfed quotation and thesaurus sites for a good hour in search of titles while watching Heat for the umpteenth time. Titles are always the hardest part of the story for me, excepting the rare occasion when the title comes first and the plot follows. In the end, I picked a fragment of a quote out of the story.
Between the two, it would have been nice to save the hour nad a half to work on another piece.
Ah well. Tomorrow’s another day, and half the family will be out of town.
I already hear the laptop calling me back.
