I’ve been toying with the idea of building a Linux distribution for writers for a while now, but a fella named Billy-Bob Ming (what a cool, odd name) beat me to it.
To an extent, anyway.
His GhostWriter live CD distribution is a stripped down, writing-only package made for folks who just want to get in and type without having to futz with their systems. Not a bad idea, and I’m really curious about his LyX screenwriting templates.
However, it doesn’t do writers like myself much good. Some of us create our own web pages and do quite a bit of business via email and the web. Not to mention the whole matter of researching material on the web.
So it looks like there’s still room for my own writer-based distro after all. I can still here Linux From Scratch calling my name…
