This is the cigar I smoked tonight, with a Sharpie for size reference. I wanted to like it, I really did, but there’s a reason I’m calling this Take 1.
See, this was a free promo cigar (1 of 5 different sizes of Dominiques, actually) that came with a humidor I purchased online. Unfortunately this cigar didn’t fit in my current humidor, and I’m conditioning the new one, so I figured I best smoke it before it dried out.
I suspect I was too late. It had a peculiar, bitter taste that normally only comes with a cigar that’s burning too hot. The draw was fine, but it didn’t burn evenly; I kept getting a cone at the end, as if I inserted the tip into a pencil sharpener and shaved it down to a point. The, about halfway throug, the wrapper started to peel.
I’ve put the other four in the humidor and I think I’ll let them sit for a bit before I try them. I’ll post another review of the Dominiques at that point, hopefully with better results.
