Loooong day yesterday, and there’s no better way to unwind than kicking back on the patio with a cigar. (Well, almost no better way, but nobody wants to hear about that.) I snagged the Cuesta-Rey from the batch John gave me a while back, sat out in a surprisingly cool breeze, and lit up.
I tasted a hint of spice right off the wrapper, and the smoke conveyed the same. It smoked smooth and even, and it held together well as the as built up. I gave it a few rapid puffs to test how it held up to the heat, and to my surprise it didn’t turn harsh or sour.
If I remember right, John gave this one up because it had the torpedo shape; you should have given this one a chance, man! It may not match those Dona Flors, but it wasn’t half bad.
