Smoke Blog: Felipe Gregorio

I had the pleasure of enjoying a Felipe Gregorio Mystic Knight Friday night, complete with a soak in a hot tub to round out the experience. It was a good smoke, with a fine, chocolatey flavor that remained consistent throughout and did not turn harsh or acrid with extra heat upon relighting or rapid puffing. It produced a lot of smoke, but that smoke didn’t overpower the palate or undermine the flavor.

The only problem I did have was a slightly uneven burn (requiring a relight in the beginning) and, a little over halfway through, the ember fell inside the wrapper and smothered itself. Given the frequency with which this has been happening of late, I’m starting to wonder if it’s not a problem with the cigars but with my humidor or perhaps the Tinder Box’s humidor. I haven’t changed the way I smoke (for example, puffing fater or longer), and the cigars from John and New Trends or from Joe’s don’t seem to give me the same trouble. I’ll have to explore that one a bit further.
