First Snow

We had our first snowstorm of the season last Friday, and our first in this house. Fortunately we fared better than this tree. The icy rain came down for several hours first, and this tree got coated. There were solid chunks at the ends of the drooping limbs.

We didn’t lose power, but a couple hundred people in a town only 12 miles away still had no power two days later, and it got worse farther south and west. We had high winds, too, but though they left some huge drifts (four feet at the highest point) in the back yard, they made little gulleys and valleys near the house. At first I was afraid I’d have to climb out a window.

All in all, not too shabby for our first snow storm in the new place.
