Aliens Over Chicago

By Mike | January 2, 2007

Okay, probably not. But the big news going around is some United Airlines employees spotted a UFO flying over O’Hare. Even the television news outlets are picking it up. The best report came from the local ABC affiliate out of Peoria. They managed to find a pothead to put in front of the camera, and asked him what he thought. He says “I’m in the plane, I’m hallucinating, but nobody sees what I see. You know what I mean?” and laughs.

I don’t see any little green men involved, but there’s plenty to interest the conspiracy theorists, particularly an FAA cover-up (okay, alleged FAA cover-up). Why would it take a threat of a Freedom of Information Act request to get them to spill the fact that there’s nothing on the air traffic radar? One would think it would have been a lot faster to just say “we didn’t see nothin’” in the first place.

What I’d like to know is why the various reporters aren’t talking directly to the air traffic reporters on duty during the sighting. Have the reporters not thought of it, or has the FAA told their people to keep their mouths shut?

Something stinks here, and I doubt it’s the next Alien Autopsy candidate. The suits are hiding something, though, and I’m betting there will be no end to the MUFON mouthbreathers and alien-chasing physicists trying to sniff it out.
