Smoke Blog: Partagas Limited Reserve 1995

The weather took a slight turn for the warmer this evening (a balmy 39 degrees), so I snagged the Partagas Limited Reserve 1995 I received for Xmas from the ol’ humidor and stepped outside. The wind chased me into the garage, but I lit up and got myself to relax.

This cigar doesn’t mess around. Its deep, heady flavor kickes in from the start, yet it doesn’t have an acrid or charred taste upon lighting. The smoke likewise has a texture of its own, and it clung together as I blew it out rather than disintegrating and filling the garage with a dreary haze. Even its construction surprised me, as the ash clung on until it was over two inches long. When it did fall off it hit the floor with a solid thump and broke in two rather than smashing itself to bits.

The cameroon wrapper isn’t a flavor I normally prefer, but it’s not hard to tell this is a fine smoke and I give it high marks. I look forward to trying some other Partagas lines once the weather warms up. In fact, the Partagas Black Label looks especially interesting, with its Connecticut wrapper and ligero blend filler.

I definitely need to find that downtown smoke shop.

Just happened upon this post looking for a review of the Partagas LTD Reserve 1995. If you haven’t tried the Black Label yet, I highly recommend it - it’s my favorite cigar, earthy and very spicy. I’d suggest having it after dinner with either coffee or sweet tea.

Thanks for the tip! If the local shops don’t have them, I’ll order a couple online.
