101 36 Reasons to Use Linux

By Mike | February 7, 2007

This list of 101 reasons Linux is better than Windows is really only 36 pieces long, but it’s still interesting reading and has a lot of good reasons.

Boil it all down, though, and it’s simple:

1) If you’re a hardcore gamer, buy Windows. You’re going to be spending a metric assload of cash on hardware and games anyway, so a Vista license is a drop in the bucket.

2) If you want to be productive on the cheap, or don’t want to upgrade your hardware to stay current with your software, go with Linux. You get a lot more applications and functionality out of the box and you get a more stable system unplagued by spyware and viruses.

3) If you want to do a lot of photo, audio and video editing, to heck with ‘em both. Get a Mac.

    Yep, yep, and yep.

I’ve been using Linux for 10 years now, with some stretches of time going exclusively Linux. Since July of last year, when my last Windows box died, I’ve been 100% Linux again, and I couldn’t be happier.

(Of course, I do admit that if I could afford it I’d have a Mac, too.)
