The Case for Impeachment

Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has been calling for the impeachment of Bush, and has taken it to the Washington State legislature. Here are some relevant links:

The guy’s got guts. Now let’s see if the US Congress has the balls to pull the trigger. I’m doubting it.

The other problem is it will be symbolic at best. By the time they get off their collective asses and things start happening, it will be election time (unless you’re one of the paranoid bunch who thinks Bush will set up a coup and simply not step down when his term is up).

I also fear we’re going to see a pendulum swing after the election. Bush has handled so many things so poorly, that I can’t help but wonder if his successor will undo it all and more. Even the Republican nominees will be distancing themselves from Bush in their campaigns, and they’ll be expected to follow through.

The next five-and-a-half years are going to be a rough ride.
