Then the Wife Provided a Dose of Reality

By Mike | March 22, 2007

So yesterday when I talked about AppleTV I mentioned dumping DirecTV and going to all-online television — I just download the shows I want to watch and watch them at my leisure. It’s not the first time I’ve talked about doing such, and the wife and I talked about it again yesterday. She agreed that yes, it would save us some money, even if we did buy a DVD or two a month for the kids.

Then she asked the big question: “What about live events like football and NASCAR?”

Damn it.

Wait, over the air? No reception is reportedly very bad out here, and the local stations suck hard enough as it is.

Damn it, damn it, damn it.

If anyone knows a way around this (aside from going to the bar to watch something and shifting my DirecTV budget to beer), I’m all ears.
