Still Doesn’t Count

By Mike | December 7, 2007

A friend sent me this video of a Toyota-made robot playing the violin in response to my Psychology of Robotics post. It’s very cool and all, and yes, it’s an amazing display of the dexterity robots are becoming capable of.

But when you break it down, I’m sure people were just as impressed with the player piano when it was first invented. Can you teach the robot how to play the fiddle portions of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”?

Not without programming it, you can’t.
