Rugrats in the Morning

Any of you non-parents ever wonder what it’s like to get rugrats up and going in the morning? It’s a lot like this:

They’re conscious and awake, but they have zero sense of urgency.
“I have to be at school in five minutes? That’s cool. I have plenty of time to put my shoes on, brush my [...]

2 Days to Free Comic Book Day

It’s Free Comic Book Day this Saturday! Drop by your local comic shop and pick up some free goodies. Not sure where you can find a comic shop? Use the zip code-based search on their site.
This year’s freebies include the first issue of Oni’s The Sixth Gun by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, a supernatural [...]

I’m Officially Trying Too Hard

Today J.F. Gonzalez pointed out the existence of this book:

When does this stop? A wiser man than I recently said:

“Talent sustains and bullshit fails to sell after a very short while.”

I hope so. Look, for all I know, this Porter Grand guy crafts better prose than any other writer on the planet. The part that [...]

Beer Fest!

I dropped by the Peoria Jaycees International Beer Festival Saturday night, and I think I’ve found a new annual, must-attend event. With over 100 beers available from 40+ local, national, and international vendors and home brew groups, there’s bound to be something there for everyone.

“Gene Simmons was my mohel, I’m more metal than you!” \m/

Domo Arigato if I Want To

We having solar flares today? Sudden huge rush of computer complaints from all around the district. Doesn’t appear to be network related, it’s either communal symathetic stupidity or energy flux from outer space.
I’m guessing it’s the former.
Let’s rock.

R.I.P. Peter Steele

Woke up to reports Type O Negative singer and bassist Peter Steele died of heart failure at age 48.
I’ve seen the band live three or four times, both as headliners of their own show and as part of larger music festivals like OzzFest. I enjoyed their music and really dug Steele’s deep vocals.

Today’s Random Soundtrack

It’s funny, but even my kids love this song.

Sometimes, It’s Just That Time
