I’ve been sitting on the Lantos thing since I saw him on TV a couple months back. Credit goes to my Pops for the Waxman find.

Just as we find out gas is going to hit $4/gallon this summer, we learn Hugo Chavez is taking over a number of Venezuelan oil fields, many of them without compensating the owners.
That’s not going to help matters at all.
Sure, he’ll probably keep Chevron supplied since Venezuela has a significant stake in that company. But [...]

Hang on to your wallets this summer, as pundits are predicting gas will hit $4/gallon.
This means shipping costs will go up, it will cost more to travel anywhere, commuters will really feel the pinch, and meanwhile I bet the oil companies will post new record profits.
And we wonder why the economy is in the shitter.

Matt Hartley wrote a column for OS Weekly that takes Dell to task for “hiding” pricing and system capabilities for Windows Vista. He makes some good points, but in general I think he’s blaming the wrong company (and I suspect his “hide-and-seek” is a libel-avoiding euphemism for “bait-and-switch”).
