Diverse City (in Comics)
Just this morning I filled out an email interview with Mike Conroy of Comics International, and one of my answers touches upon how I’ve managed to be an avid comics reader for over twenty years without reading a lot of superhero books. This isn’t an easy task, especially in the States, where the majority of [...]
MySpace Must Die
“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” — Obi Wan Kenobi
Okay, so he wasn’t talking about the MySpace online community, but it applies. While I realize some musicians and writers have had some success leveraging MySpace to promote their work, just about every page I’ve ever visited is an eye-stabbing, [...]
Writing Updates
Several things are in the works, so I thought I’d take a moment to mention them before getting started on a busy, writing-filled day.
First up, the February Previews catalog hits stores on Wednesday, and this will include the ordering information for Werewolves: Call of the Wild. I’ll be posting the order code here once I [...]
Kill Mario
Someone took the Bride vs. Go-Go scene from Kill Bill and added in Super Mario Brothers sound effects. You can see the result right here. Funny as hell.
The video looks a little odd because they squished the widescreen to fit into the standard format, but it’s easy to get past.
Microsoft Doesn’t Get It
Once again, Microsoft has written a “feature” into software that has bitten them in the ass. Coming on the heels of the WMF vulnerability (in which just looking at a picture can hose your system), it’s been announced that Windows has a serious wireless vulnerability.
If you have a laptop with wireless built in, you need [...]
Woo-WHO!
Dr. Who comes to the US in March.
And there was much rejoicing.
WHY WAS I NOT TOLD!?
I just discovered WordBallon which features podcast interviews with a number of comic talents including one of my current favorite comic writers, Brian Azzarello. I’m downloading no less than seven of the sumbitches right now.
Brian frickin’ Azzarello! I need to know these things!
If you’re not reading 100 Bullets or Loveless, you need to get your [...]
Nekkid Wimmen
In yet another occurrence of Internet serendipity, shortly after I post about Alito’s idiocy, I stumble across comic book writer Christopher Priest’s blog post about objectifying and exploiting women. He refers specifically to comics and also adult entertainment in general.
And get this: it has a religious angle that supports nudity.
I think I just heard a [...]
Say WHAT?! Part Deux
In other news today, singer Harry Belafonte has been chillin’ with renowned US-hater Hugo Chavez, el presidente of Venezuela. I just watched Belafonte on television refer to George Dubya as the “world’s greatest tyrant” and the “world’s greatest terrorist.”
Come again? Look, I can’t stand Bush’s politics, either. But I’m not about to pull a Jane [...]
