For those not familiar with the term, it’s the idea that organic matter fell from space to create (or possibly influenced) life on Earth.
The January ‘06 Wired had a photograph depicting this concept with the following statistics attached:
Years the US Air Force ran Project Blue Book, which tracked UFO sightings: 22

The long and short of it is we’re a bunch of pussies.
According to this article, the reason we haven’t returned to the moon is because we don’t have good enough maps. We’ve been up there six times (here’s a map), but we’re afraid to go back because we’re not sure where to land.
I’m not going [...]
Despite a few flashy successes of late, the American space program has been largely quiet. We haven’t returned to the Moon, and discussions of Mars missions have so far been little more than lip service.
Then along comes China, who just put two of their Taikonauts into orbit. They’ve officially entered the space race and are [...]
No, really.
Well, maybe. There’s lots of methane showing up on Mars. They don’t know where it’s coming from, and I just thought it sounded like an Edgar Rice Burroughs pulp. Or a “Flash Gordon vs. the…” serial.
Okay, so I just finished mowing the lawn in 90 degree heat and am still sweating buckets. It doesn’t [...]

This is as yet unconfirmed, but scientists are seeing signs of life on Mars. Current life, not fossils and other remains.
This doesn’t surprise me, as I think it’s crazy to believe that life only exists on our planet given the vastness of the universe.
This doesn’t mean these other lifeforms are buzzing our atmosphere in their [...]

If you’re looking for some light reading during these heavy news days, check out the above article covering the battle between astronomer Philip Plait (www.badastronomy.com) and conspiracy theorist Richard Hoagland (enterprisemission.com). The former spends some of his time exposing bad science and debunking outlandish theories, and he’s basically turned his guns on the [...]
