Win a Copy of TFWM

The good folks over at Dreadful Tales have reviewed To Fight With Monsters, the comic book written by Brian Keene and myself and illustrated by Ben Dunn. You can read the full review here, but here’s a blurb:

This story reeks of modern horror in its themes and intense, unbridled sense of… wrongness… if I may use that word. The subject matter at hand is brutal, and so far from what one would automatically thing this little story is about. It is, in fact, about monsters – but who and what the monsters are is left completely to the reader to find out. In fact, I’d say that that there are more monsters present in this than the average reader would admit. It’s just a matter of opinion as to how you would define the word.

As a bonus, the DT guys are giving away free copies of the comic! You can win one by purchasing your very own copy of Winter Kill and sending proof to DT. Supplies are limited, so act fast. For full details, scroll to the bottom of the review.

TFWM: New Cover, Preview

A new cover and six-page preview have been posted for To Fight With Monsters, the one-shot comic I co-wrote with Brian Keene. I just wrote a foreword for the inside front cover this week, and I’m told the book is on its way to printing. You can still preorder, and it should be in your hot little hands very soon.

I dig the new cover. The old one wasn’t bad, but this is a little sharper and cleaner.

If your comic shop isn’t stocking Antarctic Press, ask them to start! Antarctic also publishes Brian’s The Last Zombie and several other quality titles.

And don’t forget, The Pack: Winter Kill digital editions are only $2.99! You can get it in Kindle, Nook, or iBooks formats.

To Fight with Monsters first appeared in the fan favorite (and now hard to find) collection 4×4, and is the prequel to my novella “To Travel Among Men”. A must-have for Keene or Oliveri fans, but a great read for anyone.

About the book:

When humanity rapidly devolves into a monstrous state, teenager Rick Donovan joins his fellow townspeople in makeshift trenches to defend their homes. However, the monsters may already be among them…

New post-apocalyptic horror from Bram Stoker Award-winning horror novelists Mike Oliveri (The Pack, Werewolves: Call of the Wild) and Brian Keene (The Last Zombie, Dead of Night: Devil Slayer) and Godfather of American Manga Ben Dunn (Marvel Mangaverse, Ninja High School, Warrior Nun Areala)!

Thanks for preordering, and good luck with the contest!

Update 3/9: The prize drawing has been extended until March 22nd! Get those orders in!

To Fight With Comics

Show of hands: how many of you remember 4×4, a book four rookie authors put together about ten years ago and is now a much sought after collectible? Hmm, quite a few. If you’re one of many folks who haven’t been able to read that book, I’ve got a little bit of good news.

“To Fight With Monsters”, the short story Brian Keene and I collaborated on, will be adapted to comics by Antarctic Press next year.

It’s tentatively set to see print early next year, but I don’t yet know who the artist will be. Antarctic already publishes Brian’s The Last Zombie, so I’m confident fans will be pleased with the result.

The sequel to “To Fight With Monsters”, a novella called “To Travel Among Men”, was published in New Dark Voices
some years back as well. Catch me at a con and you’ll get it for much cheaper than that $305.00 price tag on Amazon.
